The Mangawhai Gala is held on 2nd January every year
The Gala Day is designed for four main purposes:
- provide the Mangawhai Community and visitors a fun carnival atmosphere with events, entertainment, music, rides, food and shopping
- give stallholders and entertainers opportunity
- embrace the creativity and culture of the community
- major fund raising opportunity for the Domain
The event is run entirely by about 100 volunteers and with some sponsorship from local businesses.

Gala Day hours:
06.00- gates open for stallholders
08.00 – last entry by stallholders [access gate will be closed and locked]
09.00 – nominal time for public entry
14.00 – nominal close, but can be later or earlier depending on the public.
14.15 – start of volunteers clearing the field area to return it back to standard grounds area
17.00 – closure of the field, all cars and vans to be exited from field to car park area
